The Treasury has announced that they plan to increase application fees for work and visit visas by 15% and increase the cost of other visas, settlement and citizenship applications by at least 20%. The increase in fees is designed to cover pay rises in the public sector.
Immigration Health Surcharge (‘IHS’) fees will also be affected, with fees increasing from £624 per year for adults to £1,035 per year. Fees for children will increase from £400 per year to £776 per year. Immigration Health Surcharge fees were last increased in October 2020 when they increased from £400 per year to £624.
No timeframe has been given for these changes. If you are intending to apply for a visa, indefinite leave to remain or to naturalise as a British citizen, you may want to consider applying earlier if eligible, or you may face significantly higher application costs.
