Experienced Solicitor or Senior Caseworker sought for thriving Housing Legal Aid Team

At a time when many firms have stopped providing housing legal aid, we have remained committed to providing access to justice in this incredibly important area of social welfare law. Our dedicated housing team is headed up by Laura Coyle who is a partner in the firm and has been practising housing law for over fifteen years.

We provide advice and representation in homelessness, disrepair, possession and injunction proceedings and disrepair and unlawful eviction. The department has extensive experience of handling all housing related judicial review claimant matters at the High Court. We provide free representation to tenants at the Oxford and Reading County Courts under the Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme.

Main Responsibilities of the Role
- Undertaking casework in Homelessness, Possession, Injunction and Committal proceedings, Disrepair and Unlawful Eviction
- Following accurate time recording procedures
- Managing files in compliance with SQM requirements
- Representing clients under the Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme
Key Requirements
- Experience in dealing with all Housing related casework
- Experience in advocacy
- Knowledge of the legal aid system and a commitment to providing access to justice through legal aid
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to work with vulnerable clients with empathy and compassion
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications and experience in using legal case management systems
